Russ' new solo album "Arrival" to be released 3.20
Russ has been working non-stop on "Arrival" for 4 months. Russ adds, "This record has been two years in the making. I started writing songs and the Rhythmic Conversation duets in 2005. It has been an experience of a lifetime playing with all of my hero's and this band line-up is just spectacular!" The album features ten new songs with an all-star band including: David Garfield, John Pena, Eric Marienthal, George Shelby, Rique Pantoja, Jerry Watts, Neil Stubenhaus, Frank Gamble, Ross Bolton, Rick Krive, Jon Papenbrook, Nick Lane and Luis Conte.
"The only way to describe this project is, "a sonic journey and exploration of rhythm", rhythms of different styles, interpreted by world-class drummers and in song by an incredible ensemble. "Forget that it is my record, I'm have been just happy to be in the room and witness some of these performances" Between each band composition is a "Rhythmic Conversation" with Russ and another superstar drummer/percussionist. The Rhythmic Conversation line-up is Akira Jimbo, Steve Gadd, Rick Marotta, Zoro, Jeff Hamilton, JR Robinson, Johnny Rabb, Wolfgang Haffner, Luis Conte, Richie Garcia, Pete Lockett and Steve Smith. Russ explains, "The Rhythmic Conversations transition seamlessly in the songs. The duets are all compositions with accompaniment.
